First Day in Malaysia - Abdullah Sami
My brilliant friend Abdullah Sami, a student in our language center;
we were having dinner on weekend when he shared with me his interesting
experience upon his arrival to Malaysia few months ago, I suggested him to transform his story
into words of which I will post it in my blog, unsurprisingly his writing skills
as good as expect, let’s start with his story:
On my first day in Malaysia have gone through strange experience
and I would like to share it with the readers.
Basically, I came here of course to Malaysia to study the English
language, upon my I arrival I could not speak fluently with college representative
who came and pick me up from the airport and finish some official procedures,
the representative wanted to go somewhere may be nearby to finish the procedures,
but actually he wanted me to stay in my place, so when he was about to go he told me:
“Stay here until I go back”,
at that time I couldn't
understand what he said, so the moment he turned and was walking I followed him!,
he turned immediately and looked at me with a surprise and said again
“No no .. I said Stay here”
Also I did not know the meaning all you told me stay here,
on the third time he turned back and walk also I followed him! But this time he
turned back to me and hold me from my shoulders pushed me downward as if he
want to fix me on my place, and said
“stay here”
He could have said “wait here!” because I know what “wait”
means!
After we finished the airport procedures he guided me nicely
to the train for to be taken by a friend of my father where he was waiting for
me at the last station called Gombak, when we were on the train he gave me a
piece of plastic magnetized such as coins I did not know he used well have
introduced me on the way in and said get off at the last station you will find
a friend.
Of course this is the first time I use a train so I start ask
people around me any other station, people pointed to one of them he was going
to the same station where I wanted to go when we get Finally arrived but did
not know how to get out of the station using magnetic piece, I was placing that
magical coin here and there on the door but does not open the door, I tried
several times and I could not!
The people helped me to insert the coin into the door, but the
unbelievable part, I realized that my father’s friend was looking and laughing at
me while I was trying to open the door!, after that tiring day I went with my
father’s friend together in Nandos first restaurant dinner in Malaysia.
There were life experiences, including learning and these
are my experiences ridiculous and exciting for me, I still whenever I remember
what happened that day I start laughing.
